Following the main consultation and engagement event, NHS strategic education leads or their representatives, discussed the outcomes of the morning event with the SHA workforce, education and leadership team.
The lead directors:
1) Reviewed and clarified seven key principles from the morning
2) Discussed the options for skills networks across South Central
3) Proposed how local skills network(s) could deliver quality outcomes by being founded on metrics and evidence.
This key meeting discussed the proposals with NHS education and training leads, education providers and HIECs.

Liberating the NHS: developing the healthcare workforce sets out a framework where local "skills networks" of employers will take on many of the workforce functions currently discharged by SHAs including workforce planning, education and training and post graduate medical and dental education. Consultation on the proposals ended on 31 March 2011.
